Detailing Blog: The Clay Bar

There seems to be some general confusion on the subject of the clay bar and what it actually does and is used for. I get asked fairly often, when in the detailing process does a clay bar get used, and what results does it achieve? In order to understand how the clay bar works, you’ll have to look at your paint from a cross cut view. Ideally, the paint is smooth like glass so that it reflects light as perfectly as possible, but in reality over time the clear coat gets swirls and scratches in it. BMW RZ-M6

One thing I have noticed in recent years is that the big domestic automakers have been looking back in the history book to do a fresh take on an old idea.  Not a bad concept when you consider some of the things that have been popping out have actually done fairly well! I mean lets face it,  if you were a kid and you wanted that 68 Camaro but could never have one and the concept of restoring one today is just overwhelming… why not get the new one which looks pretty mean as well and comes with a warranty and no need for restoration.

Audi Q5 Hybrid coming to the U.S. in 2010

Originally debuting at the Beijing in July of 2007, Audi is stepping into the green arena and beginning production of the Q5 hybrid. Due out in the U.S. the later part of 2010, this hybrid SUV will be competing with the Lexus RX 400H and the BMW X6 ActiveHybrid.

Audi A3 ‘Black Edition’

Leave it to the European car makers to leave the U.S. in the dark again. Actually there will be no dark in the U.S.  anytime soon. Audi has announced it will be releasing a special new ‘Black Edition’ version of the A3! Available for order now with the first deliveries due in February 2009, the Black Edition A3 starts off using the S-Line as a base to work from.

Ferrari F40 LM: A look back

Few cars sound as pissed off as a Ferrari F40 LM, the gut wrenching rawness of this car evokes such a passion out of an enthusiast, that if you don’t feel anything, well you my friend are not a true auto enthusiast. Like a beast trying to escape from it’s 3.0L twin turbo V8 cage, this car screams! A mixture of a werewolf and a vampire being tortured in a dungeon at the same time!
