Detailing Blog: The Exterior Freshen Up

Detailing the exterior of a  vehicle, at least the Squeak Squad way, breaks down in 3 ways. A Freshen Up designed for upkeep, a Protection Detail made to protect the vehicles surfaces and done every 6 months, and finally a Correction Detail which removes scratches and swirls from the paint in order to restore a great shine and remove minor paint damage. The Correction Detail is usually done yearly. For now though, we’ll focus on the exterior Freshen Up. The foundation of any good detail.

Audi Q5 Hybrid coming to the U.S. in 2010

Originally debuting at the Beijing in July of 2007, Audi is stepping into the green arena and beginning production of the Q5 hybrid. Due out in the U.S. the later part of 2010, this hybrid SUV will be competing with the Lexus RX 400H and the BMW X6 ActiveHybrid.

Audi A3 ‘Black Edition’

Leave it to the European car makers to leave the U.S. in the dark again. Actually there will be no dark in the U.S.  anytime soon. Audi has announced it will be releasing a special new ‘Black Edition’ version of the A3! Available for order now with the first deliveries due in February 2009, the Black Edition A3 starts off using the S-Line as a base to work from.

Ferrari F40 LM: A look back

Few cars sound as pissed off as a Ferrari F40 LM, the gut wrenching rawness of this car evokes such a passion out of an enthusiast, that if you don’t feel anything, well you my friend are not a true auto enthusiast. Like a beast trying to escape from it’s 3.0L twin turbo V8 cage, this car screams! A mixture of a werewolf and a vampire being tortured in a dungeon at the same time! Jon Balch’s R32 Jetta Wagon ???

You read right! It takes a rare breed to take a perfectly working car and chop it up for a project. Jon Balch did exactly that. Jon took his MKIV Volkswagen Jetta Wagon and went to work striping her down to her shell. In store to replace all he took out… the vital workings of an 04 Volkswagen R32!

What makes this story so unique is that, Jon is no godly mechanic. Jon is a regular guy with a decent working mechanical knowledge. He doesn’t have years of experience as a mechanic, he hasn’t ripped apart vws and put them back together. Jon did one thing, that has commonly been the difference between success and failure on a project. He researched… and he did lots of it.
