The Porsche Panamera is a four-door coupe from that is aimed to compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz CLS, the upcoming Audi A7 2+2, BMW CS concept-based 2+2 coupe and Aston Martin Rapide. It’s a hefty customer this Panamera, measuring 16.3ft (4.97 metres) long, 6.3ft (1.9m) wide and 4.66ft (1.4m) tall. The wheelbase is quantified at 9.6ft (2.9m). Curb weight approaches two tons.

As a package it will feature the most advanced and passenger-car focused technologies, such as an electronic air suspension, PDK gearbox, an LSD for good traction, and current interior comforts. The Porsche Panamera is obviously a Porsche, which means no sparing of thought when it comes to engine power.

Dubbed the TT RS,  Audi insiders have promised that the TT RS will be a “real alternative” to the Porsche Cayman  when it goes on sale in Europe in late 2008 or early 2009 for an estimated 50,000 euros.

The TT RS, snapped here with a production-ready front bumper, will use a 2.5-liter in-line five-cylinder motor, Audi’s first five-cylinder engine in ten years. Early reports indicate that Audi will boost performance to a hefty 350 horsepower using twin sequential turbochargers although there is still talk of a single as well.

Well BMW has finally decided to put the other foot onto the turbo train. Their new M-powered versions of the X6 will be the first car to get a new turbocharged direct-injection V8 as they begin to move away from naturally aspirated engines for its high-performance models.

Increasingly tough emission standards and soaring manufacturing costs have pushed BMW into the decision, which could alter the intrinsic character of all BMW M models.
